My Prescription for Overwhelm

This morning I sat down to do my daily meditation practice and as I started to get into it, I noticed how busy my mind was. "Wow, I just can't quiet it down," I thought. And then my next thought (lots of thinking you see) was "Wow, I'm so glad I have my practice for times like this." I marveled that my instinct wasn't to beat myself up for not accomplishing some idea of how meditation should be, but rather deep gratitude to have a tool to turn to when my mind, and life, feel overwhelming.

An Overwhelmed Brain

I have been moving through many moments of overwhelm the past few days and weeks. Many joyful moments, many challenging moments, and a whole lot of last-minute details for my wedding next month (got legally married on our scheduled date last year but pushed our ceremony/celebration to this year) have been a lot for my brain to hold!

In the past, I worked to keep myself small so I wouldn't open or expose myself to all of these complicated events and feelings that can make life beautiful and painful. But as I gained the support and tools I needed, I slowly began to show up a bit more. Letting myself, my true self, be seen and heard and shared with the world. It can be a roller coaster, but the truth is I've always loved roller coasters.

Like an Old Friend

And the joy I get from being on the roller coaster is why I decided to share the tools that helped me get here. My meditation practice is like my oldest, dearest friend that I turn to when times are hard. And when times are joyful. Always there to support me on the ride. I deeply believe we all deserve (and need) this support, and I'm honored to be a part of that support system for you. You don't have to do it alone!

A few weeks ago, I put out a poll on Instagram to see if my little community here was interested in a group meditation class and I was so excited to see so many of you were very interested! So I am super happy to announce my first drop-in Mindfulness Meditation class happening on Tuesday, August 17th at 5:30pm PT! We are going to start monthly and/or bi-monthly and see how it goes!

This 30-minute virtual class is open to all levels and is a great place for anyone who is interested in building a meditation practice, or anyone who wants support in showing up and going deeper into their meditation. Sign up to join me here!

P.S.- Want more personal support building your own practice (think 1:1 teachings, custom guided meditations, and accountability practices)? Set up a free call with me to learn more!
